Care Info
Copper is famous for its ability to quickly oxidize making it a beautiful metal that is always changing throughout the years. Oxidization is a natural process and will eventually cause metals like copper and silver to tarnish.
To help slow oxidization, store your jewelry in a closed jewelry box (included in your purchase) and or an air tight baggie. I also include a Non-tarnishing sheet that you keep in the jewelry box to help slow the tarnishing process. (A black square tab marked ANTI-TARNISH PAPER TAB - DO NOT REMOVE.)
Tarnish-resistant coated copper and silver plated copper will not oxidize as quickly as bare copper and the colour will remain the same for years to come unless the coating wears off by extreme conditions. Silver plating is pure .925 silver bonded to a core of copper metal. It is then coated with a lacquer to protect the silver.
Most of my jewelry is made with pure bare copper oxidized with liver of sulphur and silver plated tarnish-resistant copper unless otherwise specified. With proper care, silver plated jewelry can last a lifetime!
Please keep in mind that your wire wrapped jewelry is fragile and should be handled with care. Treat your wire wrapped jewelry with extra care and love. Always store away from heat, sunlight and humidity. Do not sleep and bathe in your jewelry.
To clean, I recommend simply using a standard jewelry polish cloth to keep your jewelry bright and shiny. In some cases you can rinse your wire wrapped jewelry, but please note that some crystals will get damaged to exposure to water. These are crystals on the Mohs scale below 5 and sometimes harder crystals can also be sensitive to water. It is important to do your research before attempting to clean with water. (Examples are Opal, Fluorite, Satan Spar/Selenite, Turquoise, Lepidolite, Ammolite and Malachite). Always dry thouroghly.
